Reformed Worship to Celebrate 100th Issue

The staff of RW has been working hard in anticipation of our 100th issue, which marks twenty-five years of sharing worship resources and articles. That issue will be dedicated to the theme of celebration and joy, with resources from the book of Philippians.

When you receive your next issue of RW you will notice many exciting changes to both the print and the web copy as we continue the tradition of providing excellent resources for the next generation. Here is an overview of what to expect:

Print Copy

  • A complete redesign, including cover and new Reformed Worship nameplate
  • Full color throughout
  • New layout for ease of reading
  • More visuals
  • Same great articles and resources from churches like your own!

Web Copy

  • New design to reflect the print copy
  • Better navigation and search functions
  • Interactive capability allows readers to leave comments regarding ideas that worked or ways they adapted resources to their setting
  • Video capability, allowing us to show how something was done, not just write about it

Summer Workshops and Seminars

Now is the time to begin thinking about summer workshops and seminars. There are many opportunities for continuing education and inspiration, some of which are posted on the “Events” section of our website. Given the forthcoming hymnals from the PCUSA, RCA, and CRC, you may find the annual conference of the Hymn Society of the United States and Canada of particular interest. This year it takes place from July 17-21 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. On the schedule is a workshop led jointly by the editors of the PCUSA and the CRC/RCA hymnals. Introducing Adoro Music Publishing Company

Focusing on the publication of new sacred music, Adoro is quickly distinguishing itself in the music publishing industry by providing

  • excellent music by both established and emerging composers.
  • unsurpassed quality in engraving, design, and printing.
  • samples of every page viewable on the website.
  • immediate PDF download availability of every work, with the option of receiving archival-quality printed scores.
  • Next-business-day shipping for all orders—same-day if before 11:00 a.m. ET.
  • free custom print options.

Adoro has recently added to its growing catalog Everything That Has Breath, a new series of instrumental accompaniments for congregational singing published in collaboration with the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship. Each arrangement purchased includes a spiral-bound conductor’s score, a full set of instrumental parts, and a CD. Also included is permission to make as many copies of the instrumental parts as needed, with no additional license fee required! The CD includes PDF copies of the instrumental parts as well as hymn texts and music formatted for bulletins and projection systems.

The arrangements in this series vary in instrumentation and complexity, ranging from arrangements for string quartet to arrangements for symphony orchestra. In the real world, however, few churches have instrumental ensembles that neatly fit these definitions. To make the director’s task easier, each purchase includes online access to custom-transposed parts. On the website are enough transposition and clef options to work with almost any conceivable instrumentation.
