Recent press releases from the Pew Research Center have seemingly indicated that Christianity is in a precipitous decline in the United States. Pew surveys show an eight percent loss in adherents to Christianity in a seven-year period. Yet we encourage church leaders to note that news reports can exaggerate stories of decline and miss the complexity of religious change among Christians in the United States. Despite the overall decline in Christianity, we see tremendous growth among one particular religio-ethnic group: Latino Protestants.
