On Transfiguration Sunday, the church is reminded of Jesus’ divinity and humanity. This day, which occurs the Sunday before Ash Wednesday, commemorates the story of the Transfiguration as found in Matthew 17, Mark 9, and Luke 9, when the glory of God was revealed to Peter, James, and John through the person of Jesus.
