The section on funerals contains six essays by as many authors: "Preparing the Congregation for Death"; "Pastoral Care for Grieving Families"; "Funeral and Graveside Services"; "Services for People You Barely Know"; "Handling the Hard Cases." The aim of each essay is to help the practicing pastor. At times the pastor is too much in focus, with undue emphasis on how "doing well" at funeral services can improve one's rapport with the congregation. But overall the pieces are thoughtful and practical.
